I'm trying to diagnose why, at a clients office, all the Filemaker Pro clients are getting periodically disconnected from the FM Server. One of the things I'm investigating is the Stats Log file. At the time of the most recent disconnection, there is a sudden change in the numbers listed in the log.

Before the disconnection it reads something like this:

01/14/2008 11:03:42 AM 0 0 100 0 5 5

01/14/2008 11:03:57 AM 0 0 100 0 5 5

01/14/2008 11:04:12 AM 0 0 100 0 5 5

01/14/2008 11:04:27 AM 0 0 100 0 5 5

01/14/2008 11:04:42 AM 0 0 100 0 5 5

01/14/2008 11:04:57 AM 0 0 100 0 5 5

01/14/2008 11:05:12 AM 0 0 100 0 4 5

01/14/2008 11:05:27 AM 0 0 100 0 1 5

Then it changes to this:

01/14/2008 11:05:42 AM 108 0 100 2 1 5

01/14/2008 11:05:57 AM 77 114 100 3 1 5

01/14/2008 11:06:12 AM 0 243 100 0 1 5

01/14/2008 11:06:27 AM 56 12 100 0 2 5

01/14/2008 11:06:42 AM 92 132 100 0 2 5

01/14/2008 11:06:57 AM 17 28 100 0 2 5

01/14/2008 11:07:12 AM 0 7 100 0 2 5

Then returns to the original numbers.

I assume these figures relate to the network traffic, cache hit etc, but am unsure of exactly which is which, and how to interpret the results.

Can anyone offer advice?

Thanks

The stats.log file contains information that appears in the Statistics section of the FM Server Console. A curious thing is that my log file contains 9 tab delimited fields, as opposed to 6 in yours (without the time stamp). Perhaps this is a difference in server versions. I am running 9.0.3.325. Here is the order of the fields as they appear in my log:

(timestamp) (Network KB/sec) (Disk KB/sec) (Cache Hit %) (? Cache Unsaved % probably) (FM Clients) (Open Databases) (?) (?) (?) (Remote Calls/sec) (Elapsed Time/call) (Wait Time/call) (I/O Time/Call)

The three (?) values are most likely 'Custom Publishing Clients (PHP,XML,XSLT),' 'Instant Web Publishing Clients' and 'ODBC/JDBC Clients,' but I am not sure of the order.

You can get more info on what the data in those fields means here:
