I'm attaching a picture of a button. When I click on any field on the screen, I see this dotted outline around the buttons. Any tips on how to stop or cover that up?

Remove the check mark in the field control behavior from "Allow field to be entered in browse mode" and also do the same for Find mode.

There is an additional setting, in Layout Setup, [x] Show field frames when record is active. Uncheck that (if you prefer no outlines on enterable fields; I usually do).

Well, you would certainly want to implement Breezer's recommendation also, for the fields which should not be entered in Browse mode (and/or Find mode). Looks aren't everything, those fields would still be a problem if they are not protected.
