export records through a script and naming from a field

Hi,

I've read in many posts that it's possible to export or save filenames based on a variable field.

Is there a way to achieve the same thing in version 6 ?

If not, what plugins for version 6 would do this for me?

Thanks,

Steve.

You can use Troi File plugin - they still sell the classic verison for FM 6.

Troi Website

Typically with the plugin, you export with a fixed filename, like mytempfm.txt, then use Troi File to find the file and rename it.

Sorry for the late reply, I got a bit sidetracked.

Thanks for the info Colin, I figured that would probably be the case.

I've decided to go down another path using xml which brings me to another question.

The question relates to exporting and not xml.

I'm using FileMaker to create an xml file that I will be importing into InDesign to automatically update content.

Works great, except I have to manually edit the xml file to add the header and footer info.

If I have the header and footer info in a field then FileMaker exports for all the records (which is what you would expect) causing multiple headers and footers rendering the xml file invalid.

Is there any way of adding the header and footer info only once at the begining and end of the exported file?

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks.
