Conditional import between FileMaker files?

Hi, looking in to the forums, I can't seem to find a solution to my problem. Maybe someone can help me out here?

I have two FileMaker 9 files with a table in it.

In the first file I have a lot of records containing information. In the second file I want to import a selection of records based on the content of a field in the first file. Some sort of a conditional import, almost like a relation between tables.

Am I missing the obvious?

The ultimate goal is to create one table witch contains records filled with information from 3 different tables within one file. This one table I can then sort, format and use for reporting.

Thanks for support!

Hi Paul,

If you open the first file and perform a find to locate the records that meet the criteria for the import (leave the window showing the results of the find open), then open the second file and perform the import, only the found records in open window of the first file will be imported.

Does that solve your problem?

Hi Ray,

This feature is new to me, but it could help me out.

It worked perfect in a testfile for me.

I'll try to implement this in the real database en try to script the find actions.

Thanks!
