Newbies Aron Ambrosiani Posted April 9, 2008 Newbies Posted April 9, 2008 I set up a Filemaker 8 Server om Windows XP in the summer of 2006. It has been running peacefully ever since. However, now we need to change the configurations, and neither I nor the Windows server administrator can remember the password we used for the Filemaker Server Admin login. Is there any way to reset the password without having to de- and reinstall the entire server? We have local access to the files of the server. I would be very thankful for any assistance! best regards, Aron Ambrosiani
Steven H. Blackwell Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 I strongly recommend that you do not run Server on a workstation OS. Use Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition SP1 for FileMaker Server 8. Disconnect all users and from the OS Services Control Panel stop the 2 FMS services. Provided that you know what you're doing in the Registry, you can then delete the fmauth registry key in the FMS directory in the registry. Reboot the server. You can then re-enter the key. [color:red]Please note that this does not work for Server 9. And do not try it with Server 9. Steven
