April 14, 200817 yr Hi Guys I've been trying to reconfigure my webpublishing area in FileMaker Server 9. In the area where it says which protocol I should use, I've chosen HTTPS to communicate with the webserver. When I try testing it using the button, I get an error -1 returned. I know I have SSL installed on the webserver correctly. Can someone indicate what error code -1 means and how I can rectify it? Bear in mind this server used to work fine with HTTP until I placed a certificate. Thanks Jalz
April 14, 200817 yr In FileMaker Server 8 Advanced, when using the configurtion you described, it likely is necessary in the Web Publishing Engine Console to refer to the site by its name, not by its IP number. I believe there is a Tech Info article on this.
April 14, 200817 yr Author Thanks Steven, Yes Ive tried this, I think the problem is the way FMSA9 is communicating with IIS. Everytime I select the HTTPS, port 443 and the fully qualified domain name, it seems to crash IIS. When I use port 80, remove SSL on IIS and choose HTTP protocol, it seems to be OK. Weird, I need SSL working otherwise organisation wont asllow me to host my web files.
April 15, 200817 yr What version of FileMaker Server are you using? One place you say 8, another place, 9? Steven
April 16, 200817 yr Author Sorry, I'm using Server Advanced 9....Just about to update my profile. Thanks Jalz
April 17, 200817 yr Author No responses...I take it no ones encountered this problem? I still get error code -1 when WPE tries to communicate with IIS. It is a single machine deployment if that helps? Cheers
May 15, 200817 yr Author Does anyone know what files(and folders), FileMaker changes when you deply as SSL. I know it changes these files php.ini All files in the CONF folder. Are there any others I should be aware of?
May 16, 200817 yr I don't believe that FileMaker changes anything. The SSL is strictly between the web server (IIS or Apache) and the end user's browser. Check ports (443?). And the WPE may need to be told to find the web server again. Check with your FileMaker SE on this. Steven
May 16, 200817 yr Author Hi Steven, It must change something as when I click on the test page links, they take me to a HTTPS url instead of HTTP. Although I've redeployed FMSA 9 software with webpublishing HTTPS, it was nasty, killed my iis service. Had to restart IIS a couple of times to get it to communicate with the webserver. I've raised a ticket with FMI, they have to escalate my probem to the US. (Last time they had to do this, it took them 4 months to fix, by producing a patch)..... : Edited May 16, 200817 yr by Guest
