Newbies symtym Posted April 15, 2008 Newbies Posted April 15, 2008 I have several database files created on a Mac with FM Advanced 9 under a username/password with full access privileges. The Mac's HD was damaged and not retrieved -- but all files had recent backups. Now with a completely new Mac I've reinstalled FM Adv 9 and now can't seem to figure out why I can't access database files that were secured under the username/password on the previous Mac. I have the username/password saved elsewhere so I know they're accurate. I'm guessing the account needs to be created, but you can't create the account unless the particular file is opening. Any help appreciated. TIA
Steven H. Blackwell Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 The most obvious answer is that the files are damaged. Maybe try opening them on another machine where FMP is already installed. See if that works. Steven
Newbies symtym Posted April 16, 2008 Author Newbies Posted April 16, 2008 That's what I've done -- new machine and new install of FM. I had several different backup sets for my numerous FM files. Only the ones that had username/password sets can I not open. The username/password are well known and stored separately in a different application (so I haven't forgotten them). All the other FM files work fine. TIA.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 I have no idea what to tell you then. These things are almost impossible to diagnose long distance. Steven
