sterling Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 I'm trying to set up a test environment in OS X Leopard and cannot get things working. I installed FileMaker Server 9.0v3 Advanced on a cleaner Leopard Server install. When I try to launch the Admin Console I get the following errors: First, I am told the Database Server is not and am given the option of restarting it. After clicking restart I am told "Unable to start the database server". The console app sits for several minutes so I then quit it and am told "An unknown error has occurred." I assume this has something to do with Leopard as I am currently running in production under Tiger. I thought possibly it could be because I am re-using the same serial number on the test server so I reinstalled after borrowing a serial number from a colleague to check and I get the same errors. I have tried this on a PPC Xserve and an Intel Xserve with the exact same results. Can anyone offer any suggestions?
Steven H. Blackwell Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 2 issues here. 1. You must do the Leopard OS install first and reboot. Then do a full Server 9.0v3 install. 2. You may need the x326 patch from FMI. Check the downloads page. Steven
Newbies Susan G Posted June 5, 2008 Newbies Posted June 5, 2008 I followed Old Advance Man's advice but I, too, am still having this issue: New installation of Leopard on a wiped G5. Restarted. Installed FMS Advanced 9-1.0v3_full_ESD. Can't find the patch mentioned on the FMI site. Any other suggestions?
Newbies Susan G Posted June 5, 2008 Newbies Posted June 5, 2008 Ahh, quick follow-up: Was looking for "Patch" in the software, didn't realize 326 patch was the 9.03.326 Update. But, before I downloaed the patch, I ran the OS update, restarted and tried launching the server start page again. This time, it worked. I think it's because the version of Java was updated. (Incidentally, FMI says it doesn't matter if the update is run on an Intel-based Mac or not, despite that notation in the description.) Now to see if this will also solve the same issue with installing on a G4 running Tiger...
Vaughan Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 "Now to see if this will also solve the same issue with installing on a G4 running Tiger..." Err, FMS 9.0 isn't supported on G4s. A G5 is the minimum spec.
sterling Posted June 6, 2008 Author Posted June 6, 2008 Well, I got it working on the PPC Xserve, but the Intel Xserve is still not working. I uninstalled FM Server and made sure Leopard was up to date. Rebooted, twice for good measure. I then re-installed FM Server and the 326 patch and it still gives me the error. I'm not sure what the deal is.
Newbies Susan G Posted June 6, 2008 Newbies Posted June 6, 2008 (edited) But, but...sigh. I hate it when I overlook the obvious. Thanks, Vaughan. You probably rescued me from hours of hair-pulling. Edited June 6, 2008 by Guest
