Cardiofuse Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Is anyone using a VPN connection to allow multiple users to connect to Filemaker Server? Our hospital IT department was thinking this was a more secure approach. I'm not familiar with VPN connection (most of our clients connect from PC's) to our Mac Server.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 If the only reason for wanting to use the VPN (Virtual Private Network) is for the encryption of data in transit, then FileMaker Server can manage that automatically by itself. You do not need a VPN for just that purpose. Steven
Cardiofuse Posted June 30, 2008 Author Posted June 30, 2008 Steven, Thank you. I am using the latest version of FM Server for all of our client connections. Is this feature on by default or are there particular settings I need to attend to? Thanks for clearing that up! Rickk.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 No it's not on by default. In the Admin Console under the security tab, jsut select the option to use encryption. FileMaker Server needs to be restarted then. You do not have to reboot the box. Just restart the server daemon/service from the Console. Steven
