Is anyone using a VPN connection to allow multiple users to connect to Filemaker Server? Our hospital IT department was thinking this was a more secure approach. I'm not familiar with VPN connection (most of our clients connect from PC's) to our Mac Server.

If the only reason for wanting to use the VPN (Virtual Private Network) is for the encryption of data in transit, then FileMaker Server can manage that automatically by itself. You do not need a VPN for just that purpose.

Thank you. I am using the latest version of FM Server for all of our client connections. Is this feature on by default or are there particular settings I need to attend to?

No it's not on by default. In the Admin Console under the security tab, jsut select the option to use encryption. FileMaker Server needs to be restarted then. You do not have to reboot the box. Just restart the server daemon/service from the Console.
