John. Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Hello, We have a mixed pc/mac environment and have noticed that when printing a report, it takes significantly longer to print a report from a PC than it does the mac. This is something that's repeatable and it doesn't matter what report it is. Has anybody else run across this? Thanks, John
Vaughan Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Probably the different printer drivers. Are the Macs postscript and the PCs using PCL?
John. Posted June 25, 2008 Author Posted June 25, 2008 I should rephrase that a bit. It seems to take longer to do the report processing to get to preview mode on a PC than on a mac. I just ran a report on my mac laptop and the report took 4:40 to run. Ran the report through Parallels on my machine and it took 5:48 to run the same report. Thanks, John
Vaughan Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 "Ran the report through Parallels on my machine and it took 5:48 to run the same report." You know, teeny details like this are actually quite important to the diagnosis of the problem. What's the difference when the report is tested on a non-software emulation of a cpu? I'm impressed the report ran so fast in parallels. Hands up those old enough to remember VirtualPC on the PowerPC processors, or SoftPC on the 68K processors before that... :)
