How to transfer accounts and passwords when upgrading a solution

Featured Replies

I have the following problem:

How can I inform users that their password has changed BEFORe they try to login? (besides sending an email)??

Here's the situtation:

File hosted on Server, with about 20 users (privilege sets: Data Entry or Manager).

I am upgrading to new version; have transferred all the data, including the account names from old solution. I am recreating these account names in the new solution, but I have to set the password to a generic one since I do not know it (or leave empty; user has to change it after first login) . Unless I send out an email to warn users, first time they try to login, they will not be able to.... is there a way to let them know while (or before) they first login?

Thanks for any help!

Use External Accounts; the situation you describe is one of the principal reasons we have them. Using external Accoutns prevents your having to do any of these transfers.

See the Serveral External Authentication Tech Brief for more information. BTW, there is a new version of that coming soon.
