hi everyone,

i jus satarted usin filemaker pro7.

i have two tables "purchase order" and "job". i was wondering how i can launch the Job table by entering the job code in the purchase order table(form)? do i need to do this creating the appropriate relationship between the tables or filemaker has a special feature to do that?!

thank you.

P.S. i've already connected the two tables.

How and why, does the option "Allow creation of related ..." make you wonder when the connection was made?

well i mean does this have anything with reltionships or there's a specail feature that does this?

for example how i'm gonna automatically access the customer table by entering the customer ID in Job table?

A relationship between 2 tables means that you can access any of the fields of the other table, once you put a value in the local key field that makes the relationship valid; we use the term "relationship" generally to mean both the structure, i.e. on the Relationship Graph, as well as the "relational connection" which only occurs when data matching the relationship exists on both sides of the structural relationship. (Except in the case of a Cartesian X operator, which matches anything, including null).

thanks for your information, but im afraid it wont be useful in this case because i know what relationships are, n i do create n use them in Access and Micro SQL, but what i am after is to launch the table, not copying or anything like that.

i just want for example the Customer table to pop-up after i enter Customer ID in the Job table.

Look at the Go to Related Record script step.
