Not a room/travel post...

Thinking forward to the upcoming week at DevCon, I was just now mulling over how heterogeneous the FM community is, how many different backgrounds we come from...and the fact that musicians are so well represented at all the DevCons - thank you, guys!

It made me wonder about the rest of us who can't even whistle the theme music to Jaws: how many of us come from other arts backgrounds? 2D/3D design, visual arts, theater, dance, film etc? I know the ratio is higher than you might find in a gaggle of .NET developers...

I'm sort of curious, since I'm a proud possessor of several expensive pieces of paper - MFAs and BFAs etc - whose ROI I could admittedly measure in the low single digits. I can name a few of the luminaries who have arts practices as well; how about the rest of you?
