ShosMeister Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Is there a way of capturing the current auto-enter incremental value from FM6 files? I am preparing to convert them to FM7 (for now) and rather than going through all 30+ files to find what fields are auto-enter and get the current values (especially when it will change by the time I get ready for final conversion) and was wondering if there is a script or external utility that could help? Thanks!!!
Mike Williamson Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 When you convert a FMP 6 file to 8, 8.5, or 9, I believe it does bring in your next auto-enter serials. I would not use FMP 7 for converting. (It had too many issues)
ShosMeister Posted July 10, 2008 Author Posted July 10, 2008 Mike, thanks for the advice. But I forgot to mention in my original post, my issue is that I won't be able to convert in place. I will be converting copies of the files, cleaning up all the reference errors, etc. and then, somehow, exporting all of the data from the FM6 files and importing it into the FM7/8/whatever files. That's why I need to know what all fields have auto-enter values. Sorry for the confusion.
