I have been requested to design a FM database that will import HL7 medical files for construction workers drug testing. The clinical lab has provided an overview of what they will send, but it looks quite different from other data I have imported. Does anyone have any experience with HL7?

Did you manage to resolve this issue? As I use some middleware called 'Mirth' (freeware) to enable import and export of HL7 messages into FM databases.

Mirth is a connection technology and will not parse/interpret HL7. HL7 test results will have a very specific message structure with several segments that, in turn have segment details, which in turn have data types and data details and may or may not have HL7 support tables references.
