Just a quick question.

How do you redirect to another layout in another file? Preferably through a press of a button.

You need a script in both files. The script in the destination file will simply go to the layout that you want. The script in the starting file will perform that external script. Format the button in the starting file to perform the script in the starting file.

On the other hand, if the second file is related to the first, and you only have one layout in that file, you could just format the button to "Go to related record".
