using data stored in field as part of the calculation

Featured Replies

Hello

I have posted elsewhere on this forum, and this seems more like the ideal place to ask it.

I'm creating a database for my poker league and have the following tables.

members

venues

tournaments

points

seasons

regions

In points I have the fields

position

points

and then relate to

tournament id, total players and

member id, member name

I would like points to equal a calculation dependant upon how many players have played in the tournament.

For every player in the pot there will be 200 points in the pot and first place will be rewarded 30% of the points.

This seemed like a basic calculation to me, but I have discovered that I can't use Tournaments::Total Players as part of the calculation in an if function.

So how do I go about calculating this?

Try this out. It should show you the way. If there are any questions let me know.
