Timestamp Not Updating when Portal Data is Changed.

I have a peculiar issue I hope someone can shine some light on for me. On one of my layouts I have several portals showing related data. Whenever I make changes to the related data in the portal, the last modified timestamp and username I have displayed do not update. However updating non-portal data updates the user and modified timestamp properly. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
