I am very new to Filemaker and I have been put in charge of making a database at work. We have version 8.0. I need to create a button or something similar that either can take the user to a specific entry in another database or to a different entry in the same database (but with different fields-I'm not sure if you can even do that). I really have no idea how to even go about doing this. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Welcome to the Forum.

What you want to do can be accomplished by setting up a relationship between the 2 files. Before getting started I would suggest you do some reading. Go here:

Link

Read the White Paper for FMP Novices and the Database Design for FMP. This will give you a start on building your database.

If your tables (files) are related you can set a button to "Go To Related Record" to view data in a different layout. You can also, if you have related your tables, view data from File2 in file1.

See attached file for some ideas.
