Hi,

Everytime I perform a search for matching field contents FM crashes, BUT this only happens when in fields with a checkbox set in their lay-out... This problem is not restricted to just one of my files, I’ve tried in on other files and the same problems keeps cropping up. This is a huge problem: Just now,I tried to perform the search again and FM crashed as usual but for the first time when i tried to re-open my file ALL 8000 records and 377 FIELDs were simply GONE even though the file size is still 100MB. This is a disaster seeing that this file contains 4 years of research on my PhD! Luckily I make backups on a hourly basis.. My last backup still contains all fields + records but if the original file is corrupt (which seems unlikely as with other files FM crashes as well) my back-up copy probably is too!

I’ve tried refreshing the index for the fields I’m searching without any luck.

I’ve also re-installed FM, removed all plugins (since they are know to make FM crash in some instances, cp: (http://www.issociate.de/board/post/351576/FileMaker_8_Advanced_Random_Crashes.html) BUT the problem remains.

I’ve checked my windows log and found the following Application Error messages:

1. Faulting application filemaker pro advanced.exe version: 8.0.3.349,

faulting module xtext.dll, version 8.0.2.321 fault address 0x00008f98.

2. Faulting application filemaker pro advanced.exe version: 8.0.3.349,

faulting module dbengine.dll, version 8.0.2.321 fault address 0x00121c30.

3. Faulting application filemaker pro advanced.exe version: 8.0.3.349,

faulting module ntdll.dll,, version 8.0.2.321 fault address 0x0001b1fa.

I’ve searched the internet and other FM-forums for solutions concerning these errors but without any succes…. Does anyone have any suggestions, because I a desperately need FM to work for my PhD!

Kind regards

Daan, Ghent, Belgium
