database is for reservations.

on layout #1, it holds showdate, showtime, showday, customer name

on layout #2, I have created a portal, using a self-join relationship using 2 fields. field 1 is showdate on layout #1. field 2 is a copy of showdate, which I have placed on the portal. the portal is using relationship showdatecopy to showdate.

I have created sum fields to show totals for each show, for each date. the totals do work. they are placed on the portal in layout #2.

my situation is: I have 2 shows on a given Friday, 8pm and 10pm. when I enter a date into the showdatecopy field on the portal, I want the showtimes to come up and the totals for that show. I get this, but the 8pm show shows up in two portal rows, the 10pm show shows up in the next two portal rows, the 8pm show shows up in the next 2 and so forth.

what could be the problem? any help would be appreciated.

thanks
