February 13, 200916 yr Newbies I set up an account and preliminary password and then selected the "User Must Change Password at Next Login" option. When I use this account's credentials to log in, however, it doesn't prompt me to change my password. Instead, it logs in and allows me to see the databases I have access to, but when I select a database it tells me that my password is expired. I would be grateful for any help this forum can offer. Thanks!
February 13, 200916 yr You may jave an auto-enter password that is overriding your desired process. Check that in file options. Also, if you are using FileMaker Pro 10, take a look at thefmkb.com/6839 Tech Info and read Item 1.4 for a compatibility issue. Steven
February 13, 200916 yr Author Newbies Thank you! I changed the file options section and it now works from my hard drive (i.e., ask me to change password after first login), but it still does not work via IWP. Is this script step not web compatible?
February 13, 200916 yr I do not think so. There could be a workaround using a scripted process. Steven
February 16, 200916 yr Author Newbies Actually, I found this interesting tidbit after searching around for a couple of hours (from FM 9 IWP manual): "Web users generally cannot modify their account password from a web browser. However, it is possible to use the Change Password script step to designate a preset password that the user can change to." The problem with this is that you can only use the Change Password script step if you want everyone to be changed to the same password. Once again, I find myself questioning FM selling their product as something that is compatible with IWP. There are just too many limitations in the web-based environment and you really have to search the literature to find the limitations. Too bad.
