Mary Ann Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I work with state government. My business is required to have daily time sheets broken down in 15 minute intervals throughout the day. My staff also has to indicate whether they were performing administrative tasks or direct care tasks during that time period. I have to report how much time was spent performing each type of task. My time sheet is one record. Each field allows for 40 repititions. I can't figure out how to total each type of task for each day and ultimately for the year. Can someone offer some suggestions?
RalphL Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 (edited) It is time for you to become relational and forget about repeating fields. Since you are in FMP 6 you will need 2 files (Tables). The first is like your current file without the repeating fields. You will need to add an unique ID field to this table. The second contains the fields that were repeating. A portal in the first displays the date in these fields. Your reports will be generated in the second file. Spend a little time getting familiar with relational databases before proceeding.
