I am trying to write a script to export a filemaker record to an excel template so that at a click of a button in filemaker it will bring up an excel template with the selected data in the write places on the template then can be saved individually.

is this possible?

not sure how to go about it, cannot just go save as excel as this just saves the data. need each field to be exported to a certain place on a excel template.

Want a certain record to be exported into an excel template with individual boxes which i have already made up and not sure whether i need to write a script for it or use the export option.

Cheers,

Will

You'd have to use XML and XSLT stylesheet to export the data to an excel spreadsheet in a particular format, and it's a not a job for beginners.

On the other hand, why not put the "template" into the FMP database and print it from there?

i still want to beable to enter fields in one view and then click a button and have them entered in a template except this template will now be in filemaker.

Would rather do it this way than just having details entered straight into the template for searching reasons and availability of space reasons.

Any help on writing a script for this?

Want to pick up individual fields and have them put into fields on the template, do i need to have new field names set up for the template or can i just use the same ones so that when i click make invoice then the the details are just mirrored onto the template

any tips on this? i know its probably simple i just haven't used filemaker in awhile and not sure how to right the script.

what i want to happen is

-press a button

-a field and its contents is copied

-it goes to another layout

-puts the copied field contents into a totally different field

should be quite a simple script just wouldnt mind a bit of speeding up as im not to used to the new filemaker.

Cheers,

Will
