Newbies Spear Posted June 14, 2009 Newbies Posted June 14, 2009 Hi Guys I'm seeking some help. I am new to FMP10 and am trying to develop an application to store pdfs in a table with a container for each, one record for each pdf. So far I have managed on both Win and Mac to to make a little progress. On Win drag and drop into the container works OK, but only one file at a time. The result is OK too - the front page is displayed and when I click on the pdf it opens in Acrobat Reader - just as I need. All attempts to write a Script which will import all the pdfs from a folder have so far failed. On the Mac I have not managed to get drag and drop to work but I am also new to the Mac platform. I have managed to get pdfs in by using QuickTime insert and can then scroll through it OK. My forum searches have so far not found a solution. Can anyone help by pointing me in the right direction to solve this, especially on Win? Kind regards Spear
jonathanstark Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 There is a ton of info on working with containers in the FileMaker Help docs: FileMaker Help Also, you can import a folder full of PDFs by selecting: File > Import Records > Folder and checking the Picture and Movie files options.
Newbies Spear Posted June 14, 2009 Author Newbies Posted June 14, 2009 Hi Thanks for the suggestion. I'll do some more experimenting and see how that goes...
Newbies Spear Posted June 15, 2009 Author Newbies Posted June 15, 2009 Hi I did some more experimenting. Unfortunately the File import folder method is not working. The pdfs I want to import are just not being "seen" as in the folder. I put some text files into it as a control and these were imported OK. I've made a further search of the forum material and FM's knowledge base but so far this has not thrown up a solution. Could I have a configuration or preference option not set somewhere? Still need some help on this, especially on Win XP. Kind regards Spear
jonathanstark Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Sorry that the import folder method didn't work for you. It does work for me, but maybe it's a Mac only thing.
