This feels like a stupid question to be asking, and I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but I can't figure out how to alter the background color scheme on a layout once I'm finished with the initial layout creation process.

I can, of course, create a whole new layout, giving it the color scheme I'm looking for, then paste in elements from the old layout, but that's a cumbersome workaround, one that breaks script references, etc.

As far as I can tell, you need to click on the label for each layout part (header, body, footer, etc), and then, in the status area, set the fill to the color you want for the background. Does that help?
