Can setting a Privilege Set change your keyboard functions?

I've created a user Privilege Set where, under the Data Access And Design section, the settings are;

Records: Create and edit in all tables

Layouts: All view only

Value Lists: All view only

Scripts: All executable only

with no Custom Privileges set.

Other Privileges are set to;

Allow printing

Allow exporting

Disconnect user from server..

The issue I have is that when logged in with Full Access my PC keyboard [Windows XP] operates as normal, however after logging in using this Privilege Set when using my keyboard to select and copy and paste text I am getting "special" characters instead. I can confirm that the text string is copied to the computer clipboard correctly.

Has anyone had a similar issue?

Thanks for your reply, Steve.

The Numbers Lock is not affecting it, however upon further investigation when logged in with this privelege set permissions, after selecting the text, the right button context menu does not include any editing options and therefore does not copy anything to the computer clipboard. But the text can be deleted from the field - using the Backspace key - and text can be entered as usual. However when using Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V, Ctrl + X keys, the result is that special characters are enter instead. These special characters are, respectively, superscript L, subscript T and an Up Arrow.

So, in effect, the Editing functions have been immobilised.

This problem is consistent on other client PCs.

With Full Access permissions all these functions are possible.

Hi Steve

Just had a Eureka moment! It appears that the issue has been caused by the setting of a Custom Menu. The menu created did not show the Edit functions and when added to the Custom Menu I am now able to achieve these editing functions.

Thanks for your help.

Carl
