Rramjet Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Hi- I am having a most annoying and frustrating problem with the screen redrawing coupled with a slow checkbox response in FMP10. I have a list layout that has a checkbox with every record. I also have two scripts that allow one to either “Mark” or “Clear” checkboxes in a found set (and a third button that allows one to find a marked set- not a script). When I manually select a check box, FMP first takes a second (or more) to change its focus to that record… then marks the checkbox. If FMPs focus is already on a record, the checkbox response is okay. Manually unmarking the checkbox elicits similar response characteristics (FMP has to “think” about it). If I then “Clear” the marked checkbox(s) using the script, the checkboxes clear instantaneously… but FMP then redraws the whole screen one record at a time (and with over a thousand records this takes time…). “Marking” the checkbox set using the script is slightly different in that the marking process is slower than clearing (marking proceeds one record at a time/ clearing is instantaneous) and THEN FMP redraws the screen one record at a time… I also notice that the screen redraws when I go to that Layout or am on the layout and perform any FMP operation like “New Record” or “Delete Record” (whereupon FMP redraws twice!) or return from Manage… etc. I am running under Windows XP (SP3) with a 2.8GHz Pentium 4 and 2GB RAM, and have no performance problems in any other program OR in any other part of my FMP File (The file is large, with over 50 tables and 1500 records…so far…). I notice other posts here complaining of FMP (previous versions) redrawing or “Flashing” (I have the flashing problem too!) but setting the FMP process to “Above Normal” or “High” or even to “Realtime” does not change things at all. As far as I can tell this is the first post complaining of the problem (or similar) with FMP10. Any suggestions?
Steverino Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 We've found that turning the hardware accelerator off helps enormously. Go to the Control Panel to make the appropriate changes.
Rramjet Posted September 30, 2009 Author Posted September 30, 2009 Hi Steve - (sorry, I've been away...) Ummm... I can get to the Control Panel... whereto from there? Does your solution affect other programs/devices?
