Steven H. Blackwell Posted December 21, 2001 Posted December 21, 2001 OK, let's start at the beginning. 1. Turn file sharing OFF. It will cause you untold problems. 2. Drop the memory back to about 32 MB. All FM Server can use is 40 MB to begin with. 3. Turn OFF Virtual Memory if you have it on. 4. Recover all your files, then export all the data in them. Import that data into clean clones of your files. 5. Go to the FMI Web Site and download the FM Server BEst Practices White Paper. HTH Old Advance Man
Newbies willb Posted December 21, 2001 Newbies Posted December 21, 2001 I am running Filemaker Server 5.02 with about 30 files and 12 users under Mac OS 9.1 with very few extensions but with file sharing turned on on the server machine. It had been running without problems since about June and all of a sudden it started freezing about once a day. The last time it gave me "Filemaker Server Error Type 8", but mostly it just freezes. The server has 160mb of ram and I give FM server 100. I have run TechTool on it without finding any problems. Any ideas?
