FM Server cannot be accessed via ODBC

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I just installed the FileMaker ODBC driver on my newly set up Mac OS 10.6 machine only to discover that I cannot access data on a FileMaker Server Advanced using the FileMaker ODBC driver.

This is my current setup (not working):

- Databases are running on different Windows 2003 Servers, each of them hosting FileMaker Server Advanced 10.

- Client is Mac OS 10.6.1, FileMaker ODBC driver installed (the one which came on the FM Server 10 install CD) and configured definitely correctly (triple checked for misspelling and everything else) according to FileMaker's setup guides.

- Trying to access the data from the client machine using several softwares that should be able to connect to FM Server like Excel, Enfocus Switch (DTP workflow software) or FileMaker client itself always gives me connection errors like "cannot find odbc.ini".

Fact is that the very same configuration works perfectly in pre Mac OS 10.6 versions:

- Databases running on the very same FileMaker Servers as described above.

- Clients using Mac OS 10.5.8 and 10.4.11, FileMaker ODBC driver installed from the very same CD as described above.

On Mac OS 10.6 I installed the ODBC administrator from Actual Technologies. I have several other DSNs set up to different targets (mySQL); all of them work fine.

So the only conclusion left seems to be that the ODBC driver provided by FileMaker intended to access databases on a FileMaker Server 10 Advanced simply is not working with Mac OS 10.6.

Anyone any idea what might solve the problem? Has anyone experienced the same?

Best regards,

Westcoaster
