I've searched and searched the forums but can't find a solution to my problem even though it's probably fairly simple. I'm trying to add students to a roster (I choose the class, then want to choose the students to add to it).

I've figured out how to create a value list that populates the foreign key but it takes too long to find each student (there are about 4500 students). I'm doing it on a "Roster" layout based on that table.

Anyone have a solution? I've attached a picture of the relationship diagram.

You need a "picker" to allow the selection of a contact. These are usually done with portals and "exploded keys" to allow the matching of contacts on the entry of partial strings.

Pickers are neither new nor rocket science, search some of the sites for a demo to pull apart.
