Plug-ins not visible in all Window Accounts

Featured Replies

I have a windows xp sp3 box that has several user accounts. In some of the accounts, the plug-ins don't show up in edit/preferences/plug-ins, therefore they don't work. (FM10)

Anyone have ideas on how I can fix this?

Do these user's OS privileges differ from those for whom the plug-in does work?

What are the plugins which don't load?

It could be that they need something additional installed to work, C++ Runtimes for example.

I have changed all user accounts to Administrator.

The plug-ins are CNS Audit and SuperContainer.

What folder are the plug-ins installed? There are several places plug-ins can be installed (for historical reasons) but some are better than others.

Look up FMP Help to see what the folders are in Windows.

Also, is the FM Server set up to update the plug-ins?

The files are in c:program filesFilemaker ProExtensions.

The folder where plug-ins are stored has changed with different versions of FMP and operating systems.

It's not uncommon for sysadmins to make the application folder read only for users. For this reason FMP 9 and later allow an alternative extensions location in the user's folder. The plug-ins in *this* folder have priority over those in the Extensions folder in the Program folder.

WinXP:

Vista:

C:usersuser_nameAppDataLocalFileMakerExtensions
