I have a BOM database and I want to be able to press a button and add a stamp to the record that says DISCONTINUED.

Does anybody have an idea of how.

Create a new text field.

Place it on your layout, big/bold/red etc etc.

Create a button on your layout. Scroll down the list of button actions on the left-hand side until you find Set Field.

Choose the new field you created.

Click on "specify" and type "Discontinued" (with the quotes).

That should do it: the button will set the contents of the field.
