Connecting PostgreSQL to FMPro on WinXP

Since ESS still does not support PostgreSQL, I am assuming ODBC is still going to be the best method for connecting the two databases. I am running an import on a FM database, which then has to be audited against a PostgreSQL database. I am currently running FMPro 9.03 on WinXP. What is going to be the best method for running these audits. I have FM10, but have not upgraded. Is the ODBC support better in 10?
