April 11, 200223 yr Anyone know of a way to leave FileMaker Server 5.5 running without having the administrator logged into the OS X computer it's running on? Our FM server is going into a 'secure' server room shared by administrators from various departments and I would like to prevent the casually curious from easily browsing the contents of the server. The only option I can think of is to require a password to clear the screensaver, but I would rather not have to leave the Administrator account logged into the machine at all if this is possible.
April 12, 200223 yr Go to the following web site, and follow the directions. It is a pretty good article on launching FMP 5.5 at startup in OS X. http://www.afp548.com/Articles/system/fmpserver.html Hope this helps.
May 6, 200223 yr Author Thanks for the link Fisherman. I discovered something missing from the instructions you pointed me to: After creating the FMPServer and StartupParameters.plist files, and then editing the hostconfig file per the instructions, you must then do a chmod 755 on the FMPServer file to make it executable. I found this info after doing a search for in the forum for 'fmserverd': http://www.fmforums.com/threads/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=UBB27&Number=27463&page=&view=&sb=&o=
