Newbies drosien Posted November 20, 2009 Newbies Posted November 20, 2009 Hi! I'm having performance problems an my database running on FMS9 OS X server 10.5.5. The server has 20GB RAM and enough ressources for the ~20-25 clients that are using the database. But - from time to time - a simple search over an indexed date field (~100k records) takes up to 1 minute. This problem is mainly not only appearing in the backup time (what was my first thought) but at different random times. Are there any known problems with this configuration?
Steven H. Blackwell Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 You say server has 20 GB RAM? Are you sure about that? That seems high. You may be experiencing some problems with indexing. You may need to rebuild the index on the searched field. Steven
Newbies drosien Posted November 20, 2009 Author Newbies Posted November 20, 2009 Yes, I'm sure about 20GB. The search performance is quite good about 95% of the time and this problem is not limited to 1 field but occures with different fields.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 How does the Macintosh Leopard OS manage 20GB of RAM? Steven
Newbies drosien Posted November 24, 2009 Author Newbies Posted November 24, 2009 20GB RAM is no problem with Leopard server.
vladisglad Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Compact the file. Turn indexing on and off on the field to reindex... Double check that indexing language is English.
