Hide layout field in table view

I am wondering if it is possible to write a script for this... it is pretty cosmetic really, not too important if I can't get it to work.

When viewing a layout in Table view, you can click the "modify" button and uncheck several fields to hide them... this is temporary, I know it returns back after you close and open filemaker... which is fine.

What I am wondering is... in a script can you have it uncheck these boxes for you. I want it to have the same behavior... temporary... I just need a function, based on certain conditions (probably using an "if" statement) will uncheck a field box in that tab.

Possible?
