Mac Vs. NT

Featured Replies

Sorry if this is deemed rude, but that is pure bull crap. Who ever told you this is probably trying to sell you or your company and a bunch of other NT solutions too. ?

We run a mixed network here, and have our FMS running on a Mac. None of the PCs have any trouble accessing it.

If you are running FMS 5.0 on a Mac, you can select in preferences - networking to run either TCP/IP only or TCP/IP and AppleTalk depending on your needs. Now restart your FMS app, and any PC not your network host be able to see the Mac FMS server as a Host. One caveat, this assumes that you are running some sort of IP addressing on your network.

Hope this clears thing up for you.

Currently, we are running FMS 5.0 on a Mac workstation. I'm told that only Macs can access this workstation because PC's cannot see the Macs, and that we need to switch from using the MAC FMS to NT FMS so that both platforms can access the databases.

Is there a way we can access the MAC FMS using PC's?

Thanks.
