Newbies mark69 Posted August 17, 2000 Newbies Posted August 17, 2000 Q1: Would anyone know if it's possible to remove the "created using filemaker" splash screen when quitting from a runtime database? I was told 'not possible' by support, but I see apps on the market that don't have it! Q2: What's the easiest way to change the desktop icons of the filemaker runtime databases? Thank you in advance for sharing! Regards, Mark
beltro Posted August 18, 2000 Posted August 18, 2000 q1) It is not possible. It is something that FMI decided to do to let people know it was powered by FM. The solutions that you see that do not have it were probably developed with 4.0 or 3.0. q2)Go to Explorer, Select view, folder options and File types. From there you can edit the icon. Hope that helps beltro
Newbies mark69 Posted August 18, 2000 Author Newbies Posted August 18, 2000 Thanks for the reply...I was hoping FMI would remove the splash or there was a hack around it... As far as changing the icon...I tried your suggestion, but that does not effect the application Icon only the document. Am I missing something? Is there an editor for program files like Resedit on the Mac for Windows? Thanks for your suggestions/replies...
beltro Posted August 18, 2000 Posted August 18, 2000 This is instructions from Filemaker on how to change the icon for .fp3 files. This should work for you. 1. Launch Windows Explorer. 2. Select Options (Windows NT), or Folder Options (Windows 95/98) from the View menu. Click on the File Types Tab. 3. Type ".fp3" in the "Associated Extension" field and press "OK". If the "Extension '.fp3' is already in use" error is presented, then an ".fp3" association already exists. Therefore, you should cancel creating a new file type and scroll the list of existing file types to find the one already associated with ".fp3". Edit the existing one rather than creating a new one. 4. Edit the existing File Type or create a New File Type as follows (for example) * Description of Type - FileMaker 4.1 Database File * Content_Type(Mime) - application/fp3 * Default Extension for Content Type - .fp3 5. Edit existing or create a new "Open" action: Application used to perform action - Path to the FileMaker Pro.exe file with the "%1" command line parameter. 6. Edit existing or create a new "Print" action: Application used to perform action - Path to the FileMaker Pro.exe file with the /P and the "%1" command line parameters. 7. Click the "Change Icon" button and select the appropriate FileMaker Pro 3.0, 4.0 or 4.1 icon.
Newbies Jurrien Posted August 21, 2000 Newbies Posted August 21, 2000 As the "Made With" screen is being loaded from somewhere, it must be possible to crack it! It could be a .DLL that you might be able to open with the appropriate "can opener". If anybody succeeds in killing that horrible screen, mail the world... starting with me!
