Runtime accessing File Maker Server files

Does the runtime in FM5 Developer allow you to create an application that accesses data on a file server?

We have FM Server 5 and several FM5 Pros but would like to use runtime to distribute to a wider range of users.

No, FileMaker Developer 5 does not support networking of bundled files.

You may be able to do it, a developer made a program called Calendar monster that does something similar but if you ask me the best way for others to access the information is to work it through the browser, that way as many people as you like can do it

I'm not familiar with CalendarMonster's networking capabilities via a runtime version of FileMaker, but it may have been done with a version of FileMaker Developer prior to 5. Starting with version 5, runtime solutions do not support networking at all.
