Help to calculate the vate rate because of vat rate change on 1st jan

Hi, hopefully someone can help.

The Vat rate in the UK changes on the 1st January and I would like to set something up so that I do not have to change it on my day off.

In my database I have a "vatrate" field that is an auto enter at 0.15 at the moment.

What I wanted to do was set it as a auto enter based on a calculation that was basically if the date is greater or equal to 1st Jan then 0.175 else 0.15.

However I can not get it to work. I think it is to do with the status(currentdate)

I am using Filemaker 6 and server 5.5

Any suggestions on how to do this
