Launching runtime files from locked media

Hello,

I'm using FM Pro Developer 5 to produce a Mac and PC runtime file on cdr media for distribution. Is there any way to launch the solution file from the cdrom without transferring it to the user's local drive? When it launches I get error messages saying fields cannot be modified. I'm guessing there is no simple answer, but thought I'd ask anyway.

thanks

Alas-- there is a simple solution. Use a self extracting archive file format to hold your FM solution. WinZip is a program that can generate such a file (many other commercial programs can do this also).

Here is the process, archive your finished (all file archive bits set to open)FM solution to a mysolution.exe file using, in this example WinZip befor you burn the CD. When this file -which holds your entire solution (don't forget the "hidden files") is copied from the CD to a new directry on the end user's hard disk, then extracted your solution will be reconstructed. Extracting is done by simply opening the mysolution.exe WinZip file.

Good Luck

If this does not work for you, there are other options.

Thanks for your help, I'll try that. Sounds like the best possible solution.
