I purchased Developer which came with Pro and I'm trying to publish a database. I purchased Developer bacause I wanted to create cross platform databases but while I was looking through the help files I saw some information about publishing.

Well, I used the CDML Tool to create an HTML file but I am wondering how will the Web server know how to process the information? How will it display my database? I ftp the database and the html file to the web server where the school's website is hosted. I type the URL http://www.pcsd.k12.ny.us/evan.html and when I select the button it tries to display http://www.pcsd.k12.ny.us/FMPro which doesn't exist! CDML creates the form and where the form action is specified it calls for <FORM ACTION="FMPro" METHOD="post"> WHat is this FMPro action and how will it be handled by the web server?

Well, i'm very disappointed with the help provided by Fm Pro. It keeps going around in circles without explaining how you can post a database. It never explains how you can create an html file.

Are there any databases on the web where a _new_ user can go and benefit by looking at the html?

I can't tell from your post if you are doing this... but you have to have FileMaker and the database open and running on a PC, and then the HTML files have to be in the c:programsfilemakerFileMaker Pro 5WEb folder. This folder works in conjunction with the database software to call and display field data. If you set it up this way, then type the IP address of the box into your browser, the default page on the above mentioned PC should come up.

If you want to use the FIleMaker box along with a regular Web server, then you have to put the Web Server Connector software on your Web Server. The WSC then directs request for FIleMaker data over to the FileMaker box. I did not set things up here - but this is a general description of what we have.
