Hi.

I'm very new at FM and haven't touched a DB in years. I'm also pretty sure there's something wrong with the way i've set up my tables so any and all help is appreciated.

First table has two fields:

Date of approval (1) PK (This is a unique value)

Class type (1) (This is made up of recurring values)

Second table has a whole bunch of fields but the ones that are relative are:

Date of approval (2)

Class type (2)

(Neither of these are PK)

Now, ideally i would like:

Class type (2) to pull all the values from Class Type (1) as a drop down;

Then, once the Class Type (2) is selected:

The Date of Approval (1) associated with the chosen record in Class Type (2) auto-populates to Date of Approval (2).

Since i will be creating multiple records using the (2) fields, they really aren't candidates for just adding to the first table (are they?)

Is this possible or should i be setting this up some other way?

I'm using FM Pro 10.v3

Thanks so much. cs12

Don't use the date of approval for the primary key. The pk should be an auto-entered serial number that doesn't get used for anything else and has no meaning.
