What does the dotted outline represent? Is that the absolute outline of a page or is it the maximum page the printer will accomodate?

I assume you're talking about the dotted lines you see in Layout mode?

They're you're right and bottom margins, as set in the "Layout Setup" screen.

If you choose the Page Margins command from the View menu (in Layout mode) you can see the "whole" page magrgins and all.
