5.5 file buttons don't work in run-time

Featured Replies

I've just upgraded to 5.5 Developer. My project previously runs fine in version 4 of the runtime. I've converted the files over to version 5, rebound them with the new binder, but none of the buttons work in the new version? The opening screen has one button which simply implements a "Go to Layout ...", not even this works.

Using a Mac in the first instance.

Frustrated, I used the old files with the version 4 binder and everything works fine.

What might I be doing wrong?

More news on this one. I've now compiled the files using the Windows binder 5.5 and they work fine in Windows. The problem seems to be with the Mac binder only.

I am having the exact same problem!! What could it be?

Turns out the problem was that I was using OS 9.0 and my customers were in 9.1 or 9.2. First you should upgrade all the way up to 9.22, and then you have to do a "save as" with all of your files in 9.22 before binding the solution. That solves the problem of buttons mysteriously not working for mac classic.

Joe also emailed me to say, "one more thing - it seems that changing the three

character extension in OS 9 also prevents the database buttons from working

properly."

One more thing. It seems that when using mac OS 9, changing the three letter extension from the default USR does not work. It works fine in PC and OSX, but in OS 9, it seems to contribute to the buttons not working.
