Hi,

I need help in printing barcodes that resides in a database using FM 10 advanced.

In refrence to a topic I saw in the forum below:

The easiest for you is

Barcode 39

You can encode uppercase letters (A through Z), digits (0 through 9).

[color:blue]No plug-in needed. You just have to install a Code 39 barcode font. Code 39 is widely used and can be decoded with virtually any barcode reader.

The only thing you have to know is to put your IDs between stars for printing:

[color:red]*TRP1241*

*98023123456*

Find freeware 39 fonts here:

Font for 39

Font for 39

[color:red]I need to know how could I put the barcode numbers in between the stars (*).

Thanks for the help

N2FM

1) Make a calculation field that includes the data you want. So the result of the calculation = *TRP1241*

2) Put the field on to a layout

3) Go to browse mode. See it says *TRP1241*

4) Go back to layout mode. Select the field and change its text formatting to use the "FontFor39" font (or equivalent).

5) Go back to browse mode. Your characters are displayed as a barcode which can be scanned by a barcode reader.

The clever bit here is the font, not FileMaker.

Hope that helps.

James

Remember that the font needs to be installed on each computer for the barcode to print correctly. There is no way for FMP to determine whether the font is installed.
