I have developed a FileMaker database solution that may be of interest to mechanical engineers, or audio & acoustics consultants working in the NOISE, VIBRATION and ACOUSTICS industry.

It captures and stores measurement data obtained in sound isolation tests, conducted in accordance with ASTM E336 and ASTM E1007.

The solution calculates and presents, as tabular data and as bar charts, the Noise Reduction in each one-third octave. The ASTM E336 and E1007 single-valued performance metrics are also calculated, namely:

  • NIC - Noise Isolation Class
  • NNIC - Normalized Noise Isolation Class
  • FIIC - Field Impact Isolation Class

In any correspondence, we refer to the solution as TOTO (The One Third Octave).

One client using this solution is Integral DX Engineering Ltd.
