Relationship grapth and related value lists

Hi. Over three days last week I was introduced to FileMaker and managed to create a working(ish) database to help me organise my University documents.

Although it started as only one table, some of the fields have become tables of their own firstly so that two values (e.g module code and module title) can be shown on the main layout with either being used to choose the module/assessment. This works fine.

Secondly I would like to be able to limit the values shown in a drop-down box to only those related to a previously selected value (e.g only staff who teach on module EOE1201 should be able to be selected on the main layout when the module is set as EOE1201.

This worked flawlessly when I first tried it out on a early, more simple version (when only a couple of fields had their own tables) but now either no values show or incorrect values show when a value list is set to only show related values.

To me this suggests a problem with the relationships. As such I decided to experiment with a few different relationship set-ups that made sense to me. None of them worked exactly but I think they can still serve two purposes. Firstly if you tell me one is close to being right, then I can focus on it and fiddle with it some more. if not then they still might help you understand the way the data should be related. The problem is that I really don't understand relationships very well. From looking at other posts it looks like I might need to use a 'joining table'. If that is the case, I would appreciate it if someone could explain how that would relate to my database. Here are the relationships set-ups I have tried:

Uni Docs 1.0 (the older version that worked)

Uni Docs 2.0 (the result of my tuition)

Experiment 1 (in hindsight rather stupid)

Experiment 2

Experiment 3

Experiment 4

Any help would be appreciated! :

Thomas

P.S Tell me if you want me to attach a the file(s). I left them out initially as I think it is better for me to make changes myself (it was someone doing things for me that has left the gap in my knowledge in relation to relationships :)

After finding and completing a on-line FileMaker tutorial on conditional value lists, I have overcome this problem
