June 15, 201015 yr I can not get SuperContainer (v 2.746) to display content in a WebViewer. It works fine if I navigate to it directly via Safari but the WebViewer just gives me the java coffee cup with the circular arrows. I've tried hard coding the URL into the WebViewer as well a using the calculation engine and neither works.
June 16, 201015 yr The coffee cup you are seeing means that java is loading. When you get to that layout check and see if there is a security dialog popup anywhere on your screen, possibly behind your FileMaker. You will need to click "allow" to have the java applet continue to load. I recommend clicking the "always allow" checkbox so that you don't have to deal with it popping up again. If you are not seeing the security dialog, try going to javatester.org in your filemaker web viewer and see if you are able to see the pink box with your java version when you go to their testing page. You may have issues loading the SuperContainer applet if you are operating through a proxy. Are you using a proxy server, by any chance?
June 16, 201015 yr Author I was expecting the dialog popup as I did get that when I loaded the SC page in Safari but I did not get it in the WebViewer. Javatester does fail (if no reaction is a fail). Where the pink box should be I just get the java loading icon. So Java seems to work fine in Safari but not in FileMaker. Does that mean that I need to reinstall Java, reinstall FMPA, or both?
June 16, 201015 yr I would recommend reinstalling FileMaker as a first step, and then java if that fails. Sometimes java and filemaker get disconnect like this for some reason, and reinstalling filemaker usually fixes it. Also, make sure you are using the most up-to-date versions of any plugins you have installed, even if they are not in use. You can get the latest version of 360works plugins from http://360works.com Edited June 16, 201015 yr by Guest
June 16, 201015 yr Author OK, reinstalled both FMPA and Java and it still doesn't work. I made a sample file, e-mailed to a colleague and it works fine on his machine even though we're both running Java 1.6.0_20 Is there some other dependency that I'm missing?
June 17, 201015 yr Do you have any plugins installed? Try removing any plugins you have installed, and see if that allows FileMaker to load java in your web viewer. You may have an older version of a plugin which is causing a conflict.
June 17, 201015 yr Author That was the ticket. I had an old version of EMail that was causing the issue. Thank you so much for your help with this!
